"When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos,
they found a magician,
a Jewish false prophet whose name was
Bar-Jesus,
who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus,
a man of intelligence.
This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and
sought to hear the
word of God....
But Saul, who was also known as Paul,
filled with the Holy Spirit,
fixed his gaze on him, and said,
'You who are full of all deceit and fraud,
you son of the devil,
you enemy of all righteousness,
will you not cease
to make crooked the straight
ways of the Lord?'
(Acts 13:6-7, 9-10).
History repeats itself,
but
not always in good ways.
There are many Gentile Christians around the world
who are willing to receive any so called
Messianic Jew
(by virtue of his or her ethnicity) selling (literally)
a pack of unbiblical garbage under
the name
of
"Jewish Roots/Hebrew Roots."
Though these false prophets claim for themselves the title "Bar-Jesus" (son of Jesus), their real identity is "son of the devil," and they are "full of all deceit and fraud." Being Jewish doesn't make someone a solid Bible teacher. Good Bible teaching makes someone a solid Bible teacher. And solid Bible teaching always makes a very big deal about Jesus because the Bible always makes a very big deal about Jesus. "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves" (Matt 7:15).
