"But if a stranger sojourns with you, and celebrates
the Passover to the LORD,
let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come
near to celebrate it; and he shall be like a native of the land.
But no uncircumcised person may eat of it" (Exod 12:48).
It seems to me that many Christians are not so terribly excited
about the
New Covenant
because they haven't taken the time
to consider the Sinai Covenant
(the old covenant)
Full and equal standing in the community of Israel,
with all its rights and privileges,
and the enjoyment of the promises of the covenants,
demanded of Gentiles to remove their foreskin,
to strip off all their dirty Gentile-ness (this is a made up word).
But now, by
faith in the Messiah
Jesus, a Gentile,
as a Gentile,
is granted all the rights and privileges of every
citizen of Israel
since he/she has been
circumcised of heart,
cleansed
of all ritual impurity
Gentile believers in Jesus are
totally loved
and equally accepted!
If this thought has never made you
shed tears of joy
and sing out in praise,
it is likely because you have spent most of your time
as a believer only
reading the New Testament.
"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,
but you are fellow citizens
with the saints, and are of God’s household"
(Eph 2:19).
