"The man said,
'The woman whom
You gave to be with me,
she gave me from the
tree,
and I ate'"
(Gen 3:12).
There is nothing
more
devastating to our
spiritual growth
and
personal development
than playing the part
of a victim
Over the years,
I've met people with
incredible gifts and amazing potential,
stuck in a loop
of constantly blaming others for
all their problems:
"My parents... My siblings... My spouse... My singleness...
My colleagues... My physical problems... My dog..., etc., etc., etc.).
But be assured, the fastest
way to
hinder the Spirit's work
in our lives
is to point an accusing finger at others.
On the flip side, however, the moment we are willing to take personal responsibility and let God minister to us with his forgiveness and the truth of our new identities, the sky is literally the limit. In that moment, we discover what ALL heroes are made of.
Heroes are human beings who choose to overcome obstacles from their past, present, and future in order to fulfill their destiny. And the bigger the obstacle, the bigger the hero. Because of the gospel, all of us have the Spirit-given potential to change the world now matter what anyone else has done to us or whatever our personal disabilities! "Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do:
forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Phil 3:13-14).
