By GRACE Alone,
Through FAITH Alone,
In CHRIST Alone!
“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:5-6 KJV
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to
his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
Titus 3:5 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:
that he might be just,
and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”
Romans 3:23-26 KJV
What does that mean, really? We are all sinful-
sins may be and look or appear different among people,
but all are equally sinners.
God imposes suffering on the certain people he sets apart
for his Will and purposes, it is his biblical pattern with the
jewish people and the fullness of the gospel message,
All for his grace and glory- in his purposes we are given
unique dispositions to reveal his true nature.
Mary and Paul, both bond servants and apostles to Christ
experienced a First hand account of being physically
visited by the risen Christ. Each represented the lived and
testifying witness to the truth and mysteries of christ, in specific ways.
Christ came to heal personal suffering and
we see that through his redemptive work.
That is the entire purpose of the Cross.
The scriptures themselves point to Mary Magdalene’s
intimate understanding of Jesus. She supported his message with her own resources and remains at the cross during the crucifixion
while the other disciples hide, and
she’s the first to see Jesus following the Resurrection.
“[There’s] the very strong implication that Christianity is
derived from her testimony and her witness,”
It is certainly worthy to recognize the saint’s beautiful love for the Lord,
her courage and her strong faith. It is also worth noting that along with her being first witness to the resurrection
the very first thing she did
was run to tell Peter and the other apostles.
In other words, her personal experience was immediately
subjected to the authority of the apostolic church–as such she is a fine
example of the attitude we should all have to Christ’s Apostolic Church.
Mary’s courage and love for Jesus gave her strength
to remain by his side as he was crucified.
The crucifixion on the hill called “skull” (in Aramaic) was a violent and horrendous place to be and was particularly dangerous for women
and followers of Jesus.
As most of the male disciples fled the danger of the authorities, a small group of women stayed with Jesus and endured the crisis of the crucifixion,
risking their lives, grieving and holding space in the trauma,
next to the cross with their Lord.
After Jesus had died, and after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene
(and another Mary), are the first to Jesus’ tomb,
where they felt an earthquake as the angel rolled the stone away
(Matt. 28:1-2).
They are the only recorded witnesses to this miracle.
Mary receives the angel’s proclamation of Jesus’ resurrection
and she becomes the
first to declare Jesus’ promises fulfilled.
The Gospel of John records that after finding the empty tomb, Mary runs to find Peter and John, as they return to the tomb,
Peter and John believe in the resurrection but return home
however Mary remains at the tomb, grieving. (John 20:2-11).
Mary then sees the angels and turns to encounter what she mistakes as the gardener, she begs to see Jesus’ body once more
(likely to prepare his body as was customary in burial and as a process of grieving).
To her astonishment Jesus reveals himself
as he calls her by name,
"Mary”. Her joy overflows as she is
enthralled by his presence and the good news of his resurrection.
Jesus asks her to go and declare the good news
(John 20:11-18).
Paul the apostle of the Body of Christ said:
“According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,
which was committed to my trust.
And I [Paul] thank Christ Jesus our Lord,
who hath enabled me,
for that he counted me faithful,
putting me into the ministry;
Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and
love which is in Christ Jesus.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of
whom I am chief.
Howbeit for this cause I [Paul] obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”
1 Timothy 1:11-16 KJV
“If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I [Paul] write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.”
“Whereunto I [Paul] am ordained a preacher, and an apostle,
(I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;)
a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.”
1 Timothy 2:7 KJV
“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I [Paul] have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid,
which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 KJV
“That I [Paul] should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God;
so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum,
I have fully preached
the gospel of Christ
Yea, so have I [Paul] strived to preach the gospel,
not where Christ was named, lest I should
build upon another man's foundation:
But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see:
and they that have not heard shall understand.”
Romans 15:16-21
“Be ye followers of me, even as I [Paul] also am of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1 KJV
“Consider what I [Paul] say;
and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David
was raised from the dead according to my gospel.”
2 Timothy 2:7-8 KJV
