"Does not [lady]
and understanding lift up
her voice? ..
. The woman of folly is boisterous, she is naive and knows nothing. ...
Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to that
which destroys kings. ...
An excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far above jewels"
(Prov 8:1; 9:13; 31:3, 10).
The word "woman" is used 25 times in the
book of Proverbs
(Prov 2:16; 5:18; 6:24, 26, 29, 32; 7:5, 10; 9:13; 11:16, 22; 12:4; 14:1; 18:22; 19:13-14; 21:9, 19; 25:24; 27:15; 30:20; 31:3, 10, 30).
begins and ends
by highlighting the incredible power
women have over men
for good or for bad
(Prov 2:16; 5:18; 6:24, 26, 29, 32; 7:5, 10; 9:13; 30:20; 31:3, 10, 30).
They make or break kings,
build or destroy homes, lead to life or lead to death.
The author of Proverbs
is so keenly aware of the
incredible power women he even describes
the creation of the universe as a
God and Lady Wisdom by his side
(Prov 3:19; 8:1, 22-31)
As I approach my 23rd wedding anniversary, I cannot help but divide my life into two halves wherein women have had a profoundly powerful influence upon my life. In the first half (my early teen years to be more accurate), I allowed myself to follow women down dark paths of terrible self hatred and destruction (I blame no one but myself); and in the second half, wherein God put a godly woman by my side. Her power of influence has only brought the very best out in me and her inner and outer beauty continues to grow exponentially as the years go by.
My dear brothers, never underestimate
the profound impact your choice of women
will have upon your lives,
for good or for bad.
My dear sisters, never underestimate
the incredible consequences your personal choice
to live as a wise or a foolish woman
will have upon this world.
"The wise woman builds
but the foolish tears it down with
her own hands"
